Defoamer: Defoam 14

Other Names: Polymer-Based Defoamer
Basic Properties: Foam Reduction, Fluid Stabilizer
Defoam 14 is a polymer-based defoamer formulated to suppress foam formation in drilling fluids. Unlike silicone-based defoamers, this polymer defoamer works by modifying the structural properties of the fluid to inhibit foam stability and formation.
Excessive foam can cause operational challenges such as poor fluid handling, reduced pump efficiency, incorrect pit monitoring, and inconsistent wellbore pressures. Defoam 14 mitigates these issues by rapidly dispersing air bubbles and ensuring that the drilling fluid remains free-flowing and stable.
This additive is particularly effective in high-density mud systems, where foam formation can lead to undesirable fluctuations in fluid properties. It is also used in applications where minimal contamination is required, as it does not significantly alter the overall fluid chemistry.
pH: Defoam 14 functions effectively within a pH range of 7.0 to 9.0, making it suitable for use in neutral to mildly alkaline drilling fluids.
By incorporating Defoam 14 into drilling operations, operators can achieve better control over fluid rheology, prevent foaming-related disruptions, and maintain stable downhole conditions.
