Polythin/Tananthin
Other Names: Thinner, Fluid Stabilizer
Basic Properties: Viscosity Reducer, Dispersant, Gel Strength Controller
Polythin (Tananthin) is a fluid-thinning agent used in drilling muds to reduce viscosity, prevent gelation, and enhance fluid stability. It is commonly applied in high-density drilling mud systems, where excessive thickening can cause circulation challenges.
As a dispersant, Polythin helps break up solid aggregates, ensuring that the drilling fluid remains pumpable and free-flowing under high-pressure and high-temperature (HPHT) conditions.
Additionally, Polythin improves cuttings transport and prevents mud-induced formation damage by optimizing fluid consistency.
pH: Polythin functions within a pH range of 7.0 to 9.5, ensuring compatibility with most drilling fluids.
By using Polythin in drilling operations, operators can achieve improved viscosity control, enhance mud circulation, reduce formation damage, and maintain fluid stability, ensuring efficient and cost-effective drilling.
